The Experience: The morning begins with an exhilarating, non-technical scramble up the Great Barranco Wall. This is the mountain’s ultimate playground for those who love high-exposure vistas. From the summit of the wall, you traverse the rugged scree slopes of the Karanga Valley, situated directly beneath the hanging icefalls of the Heim and Kersten Glaciers.

Route: Karanga Camp (3,930m) to Barafu Camp (4,600m)

The Experience: You push further into the silent moonscape of the high alpine desert. Your path joins the Mweka descent trail before turning sharply toward the Barafu “Ice Camp.” Perched on a jagged volcanic ridge, you are now at the threshold of the summit. Rest is paramount; from this vantage point, the twin peaks of Mawenzi and Kibo watch over you as you prepare for the midnight call.

Route: Barafu (4,600m) to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) to Mweka Camp (3,100m)

Distance: 7km Ascent / 23km Descent | Time: 12–16 Hours | Habitat: Arctic Zone

The Triumph: At 23:30, the silence is broken by tea and the final briefing. Under the 2025 starlight, you ascend the frozen scree between the Rebman and Ratzel glaciers. Reaching Stella Point at sunrise, you are rewarded with a celestial light show over the African plains. The final traverse brings you to Uhuru Peak—the highest point on the continent. After absorbing the victory, you begin a long, triumphant descent to Mweka Camp for a night of deep, well-earned rest.

The Experience: A victory lap through the oxygen-rich cloud forest. The air grows warmer and the earth greener as you descend toward the Mweka Gate.
